Read Across America 2007 Celebration
(in Clintonville, Wisconsin)
Because of heavy snow and winds, the Read Across America celebration was held a week later than originally planned. This year’s guest was musician Bill Kehl who shared a variety of musical instruments; engaged the audience in some sing-along songs; and invited children to be part of his band.
Parents who participated in a one minute survey on building character received a “dove of peace” ornament. There was a variety of free information available to parents including articles on Cyberbullying and on the Top 10 Recommended Non-Violent Video Games. Parents could also receive information on bicycle safety; teen driving; domestic violence assistance; bullying; and recommended children’s books.
Twenty children received door prizes including games, books, stuffed animals, and craft items to make with their families.
Attendance estimates include approximately 178 children and 110 adults attending the event.
The event was co-sponsored by the nIc Foundation and the Clintonville Public Library.

Read Across America attendees participated in a sing-along song with musician Bill Kehl.

“nIc Peace Bears” were available for a donation to support violence prevention education.
