Snowflakes

Drifting to earth so silent and free,

Snowflakes are like children, for you and me.

Viewed as a group we fail to see,

What each offers, in individuality.

Sameness cannot be found in any two,

Do we take the time to see if this is true?

Push and shovel and plow through the snow,

Do we miss the beauty that there is to behold?

A blanket of snow that has fallen overnight,

Glimmering and sparkling in the morning sunlight.

A blanket of sleep for a child overnight,

Happy and content for a new day’s delight.

Snowflakes usually fall straight to the ground,

But with the wind they can scatter all around.

But what does the wind matter to you and me?

With children, we are the wind, so blow gently.

We are the ones that hold onto the key,

We have in our control, their destiny.

A snowflake is so simple, yet so profound,

Compare this to a child and see what you have found.

Take care of your snowflakes, give them respect,

Take care of your children, let them connect.

Snowflakes last a season, then melt away,

Children last a lifetime, so enjoy them everyday.
